Questions
Short answers to the things people ask most often.
Does it cost anything?#
No. There is no payment, no subscription and no advertising.
Where does my data go?#
Nowhere. The app has no server. Telemetry, ride history and routes sit in your phone's storage until you delete them. Details in the privacy policy.
The app does not see my wheel#
Usually the wheel is still connected to another phone or to the manufacturer's app. A wheel holds one connection at a time. Close the other app, toggle the wheel's wireless connection off and on, and try again.
The second most common cause is a missing permission to find nearby devices. Check the app's permissions in your phone settings.
Why does it ask for location if I do not want a route?#
That is how Android works: finding nearby devices is historically covered by the same permissions as location. Without it the operating system shows the app no devices at all. Route recording itself stays off until you turn it on.
The readings disagree with the wheel's display#
Speed can be trimmed with the correction in display settings, expressed as a percentage.
If the mismatch is in current, power or temperature rather than speed, write to me and attach a capture. On some brands those fields are still marked unconfirmed, and a real capture is exactly what is needed to settle them.
The app is using a lot of storage#
Detailed ride recording is what takes the space. The extras section sets the recording rate and how long old rides are kept, and rides can also be selected and deleted by hand.
Can I use it with the screen off?#
Yes. The app keeps running in the background and reconnects if the link drops.
Does it work without an internet connection?#
Yes. The internet is only needed by the map, to fetch the imagery. Everything else, route recording included, works offline.
Is it dangerous to change wheel settings from the app?#
Changing settings while riding is dangerous whoever's app you do it from. This app only sends commands whose meaning has been confirmed. Where that confirmation is partial, it is stated plainly in the wheels section.
What is the firmware flashing for, and should I use it?#
It is in the service menu and was built for LeaperKim. You should not use it: an interrupted or wrong firmware image kills the wheel, and there is no fixing that at home.
How do I get my wheel supported?#
Record a capture in the app and send it to me together with a couple of known readings from the wheel's display. Details at the end of the wheels section.
